Denise P. O’Reilly

President & Chief Executive Officer

As InterMedia’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Denise is responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of InterMedia’s work across its Washington, D.C., and Nairobi offices. Denise retains a broad role, reporting directly to the Board, and has responsibility for overall budgetary performance, client satisfaction and research quality. Denise works closely with other department heads (Research, Operations and Business Development), managing senior staff and oversees all elements of the business that require shared resources, including staffing, project planning, implementation, as well as finance, administration, human resources and IT. Her role interfaces with Finance, Administration, Research, Business Development, IT, Production, and Marketing and Communications. Denise also deals with a diverse group of internal and external customers, overseeing staff and ensuring the synchronization of client expectations with productivity.  Denise is also key on budgetary management of InterMedia’s FII Program of work for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Denise joined InterMedia in 2005, and brings more than 25 years’ experience in market research, consulting and program management to the organization.  Her professional background includes expertise she developed working in all three facets of the commercial market research industry — agency, client side and consulting.  Denise specialized in qualitative and quantitative methodologies across all sectors, with a focus on government, youth and financial.  Previous positions include Guinness consumer planning manager, Diageo Ireland; associate director, Millward Brown; marketing manager, Eye Level; and qualitative manager at MRBI (TNS). Some of the clients Denise has worked with include Diageo; Coca Cola; Microsoft; Intel; Budweiser; Danone; MasterCard; Department of Health (Ireland); U.S. Department of State;  U.S. Department of Defense; USSOCOM, UNICEF (USA); BBC; Deutsche Welle; and USAID. Denise also worked in the pharmaceuticals manufacturing industry for six years.

She holds a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Marketing from UCD, Dublin, Ireland; an Institute of Exports MSc in International Trade, Law, Marketing and Distribution; and certificates in Marketing and Marketing Management from C&G, London, UK.  Denise speaks French and Gaelic.

Stephen Mallard

Chief Financial Officer

Steve is the Chief Financial Officer for InterMedia overseeing the financial operations of InterMedia’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., and its subsidiary in Nairobi.  Reporting to the president, Steve defines the processes and implements the infrastructure and systems needed to maintain financial integrity and support substantial growth at InterMedia. Steve continues to build and manage effective and streamlined financial systems, including finance, accounts, legal and information technology.  As a member of the executive management team, Steve is involved in strategic planning, budget controls, and financial evaluation across the group.  Steve came to InterMedia in September 2014 with more than 30 years’ experience as a CPA.  Steve also runs his own highly successful CPA business in Virginia.  His international experience includes substantial involvement, oversight and travel to Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

Steve is based in InterMedia’s Washington, D.C. headquarters.


Corliss Lawrence

Corliss Lawrence has worked with InterMedia for almost ten years guiding InterMedia’s human resources strategies, systems and processes to support InterMedia’s overall strategic goals and objectives.  Corliss provides staff with direction and expert guidance, coaching and supporting a broad range of staff, consultants and interns domestically and globally, working closely with our team in Washington DC and Nairobi as well as other global researchers working remotely.  Corliss achieves this balance of strategic leadership and operational effectiveness by having regular and direct access to the President and CEO as well as working closely with the CFO and the entire Operations Team.  She also works closely with the research team at all levels to ensure new hires are integrated and inducted into InterMedia’s process as smoothly and efficiently as possible.  Corliss serves as part of InterMedia’s Executive Management team and also works closely with the InterMedia Board of Directors.


Dr. Samuel Schueth

Dr. Samuel Schueth is a research scientist who joined the InterMedia Research Department in July 2016.  In his new role as InterMedia’s Director of Research, Sam will provide research direction on methodology, implementation and will fully engage with the research team on analysis planning.  As part of his new duties, Sam will also take over responsibility for the InterMedia QC process and implementation as well as overseeing and managing our advanced analytics team.  He will be working alongside our Senior Associate Director of Methodology, Mamadou Thiam and our Research Director Colleen Learch.  The combination of their combined skills will ensure that InterMedia stay at the top of our field both in and out of global markets.

Sam is already working closely with our entire team in Washington DC and Nairobi to familiarize himself with our projects and clients and he will be an integral part of all our research activities as we move forward. He will ensure that InterMedia provides quality assurance at all stages of the research process, through the formulation of strong questionnaires, the design of data collection instruments, sampling, fieldwork, and data processing, analysis and reporting. Sam specializes in implementing rigorous research and evaluations in developing and conflict-affected countries to inform international assistance programming across sectors.

Among other projects, he has completed impact evaluations of governance and stabilization programs, quantitative surveys measuring financial inclusion, gender relations, economic growth, and the delivery of education, health, and agricultural services, indices of business confidence and competitiveness, and evaluated the effectiveness of counter-narcotics and countering violent extremism (CVE) communications campaigns.  Some of the clients that Sam has worked for already include USAID, DfID, Department of State, U.S. Institute of Peace, Bureau of International Narcotics & Law, QED, DAI and the Department of State.  Sam has worked on the ground in all InterMedia’s prime regions, not least of which includes working and living in Kabul (Afghanistan) for several years, Tbilisi (Georgia), Somalia, Pakistan, Ethiopia, and Jordan.

Dr. Schueth holds a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Minnesota, USA. He speaks German, Georgian, Russian and French.

Sam will be based in InterMedia’s Washington D.C. headquarters.
