Sajid Anani
Project Manager, MENA
Sajid joined InterMedia in 2007. He is responsible for the implementation, field supervision and analysis of media surveys in 10 Arab countries and Afghanistan for clients in the international broadcasting industry and in the NGO community. Previously, Sajid served as a project manager for Middle East programs at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation in Arlington, Va., and as director of fundraising and marketing at the Al-Hussein Society for the Habilitation/Rehabilitation of the Physically Challenged in Jordan. Sajid also volunteered as an Americorps VISTA volunteer, working with at-risk children from Indiana. He has a Master’s of Public Affairs from Indiana University and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the American University of Beirut. He speaks fluent Arabic.

Dunia Andary
Senior Project Manager, MENA
As a member of the MENA team, Dunia works on various media related projects. She liaises with clients and subcontractors, visits research sites to observe fieldwork, and contributes to upcoming projects through business development. Before joining InterMedia, Dunia worked as consultant and co-coordinator for the Program for the Reconstruction and Redevelopment of South Lebanon. Over the past six years, she has also written and presented several independent and co-authored research papers at political science conferences using quantitative and experimental research methods. Dunia is a doctoral candidate in American Politics and International Relations at Texas A&M University. Her dissertation focuses on the effects of media and elite discourse on foreign policy public opinion in the United States. She received her Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economic Development from the Lebanese American University in Beirut. Dunia is fluent in Arabic.

Lyuda Andriyevska
Project Manager, Eurasia
Lyuda joined the Eurasian team in February 2007, bringing to InterMedia a unique blend of research skills and experience from the private and public sectors. Before joining InterMedia, Lyuda worked for Horizon Research International in Louisville, Ky., where she conducted place-branding research and online studies for a number of international companies. Prior to that, for nearly a decade, Lyuda worked on international development projects with the USAID and USIA focusing on assistance to countries of the former Soviet Union. As a consultant to the Indiana University Parliamentary Development Project (IUPDP) for Ukraine (2001-2005), she researched a variety of policy issues and worked closely with the press service of the Ukrainian parliament on legislative transparency. She has coauthored several publications on legislative processes for IUPDP, and holds an M.P.A. degree in Policy Analysis from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs of Indiana University. She is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.

Wei-Cheng Chen
Project Manager, East Asia
Wei-Cheng Chen joined InterMedia in February 2006. His current projects focus on understanding media consumption behaviors of the Eastern Asian audience. Originally from Taiwan and a native speaker of Chinese Mandarin and Taiwanese, Wei-Cheng is interested issues concerning democratic development, foreign policy (particularly U.S.-China-Taiwan relations) and conflict studies. He has a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from National Chengchi University (Taiwan) and obtained dual master’s degrees in Public Administration and International Relations from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in 2005. He is also certified as a specialist in conflict resolution and management. He is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese.

Stephen Connors
Program Manager, U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG)
Stephen manages InterMedia’s contract with the BBG, which provides audience research and consulting to U.S. international radio and television broadcasters. His expertise covers all phases of multi-national research, program evaluation and project management; he has designed and managed dozens of quantitative and qualitative research projects throughout Central, Eastern and Southeastern and Latin America. He designed and oversaw the first nationally representative media surveys and diary panels in Kosovo and Macedonia for IREX’s USAID-funded ProMedia project, as well as the first national radio diary panel in Romania in partnership with Arbitron. Previously, Stephen conducted original research on Central and Eastern European Cold War archives at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Virginia, he has an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and was a Rotary International Fellow in Vienna, Austria. He is proficient in German.

Allen Cooper
Managing Director, InterMedia UK Ltd.
As Regional Research Manager for Africa, Allen directs InterMedia’s research work across the continent. Allen came to InterMedia in 2001 with more than 20 years’ experience planning and managing international media research for BBC World Service in London. He also has extensive research consulting experience with international broadcasting clients, has traveled widely on survey fieldwork training assignments in the Balkans, and has organized the annual conference of CIBAR since 1999. He is the author of CIBAR’s guidelines for harmonization of audience measurement for international broadcasters. A member of ESOMAR, MRS and AQR, he has spoken at several ESOMAR media research symposia. A BA (Hons) graduate of the University of Bradford in the UK, he is fluent in German and French.

Ada Demleitner
Project Manager, MENA
Ada has been with InterMedia for more than three years as a project manager for research in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Supporting several international broadcasters, she is skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, with extensive experience in implementing projects among difficult-to-access populations. She has had significant project management responsibility, including research design, overseas selection of local contractors, fieldwork oversight and coordination of multi-country programs for multiple clients. Ada’s thorough background in cultural anthropology and deep interest in, and knowledge of, Middle Eastern culture, society and politics has provided her with the necessary background for carrying out her research at InterMedia. She studied Arabic at the University of Chicago, Georgetown University and the Middle East Institute. She is currently finishing her PhD dissertation in cultural anthropology at the State University of New York at Binghamton, where she also obtained her M.A. in anthropology with a Middle East concentration. She is fluent in German.

Aneta Genova
Regional Research Manager, Southeast Europe
Aneta manages a variety of InterMedia research and consulting projects in Southeast Europe. She has done both quantitative and qualitative research for the U.S. and other international broadcasters, including national surveys, focus groups and monitoring panels. Ms Genova has been involved in projects from start to finish: design and preparation, relations with clients and subcontractors, fieldwork observation and overall supervision. Ms. Genova has an extensive communications background. Before coming to the United States, she worked for the Bulgarian News Agency, Reuters-Bulgaria and the Capital business weekly in Sofia. She obtained her M.A. in Public Communications at American University, is fluent in English and is a native speaker of Bulgarian.

Dave Gibson
Senior Quantitative Analyst
As a member of InterMedia’s Research and Analysis Unit, Dave Gibson applies his extensive skills in survey design, analysis, research software applications and research management in several ways. He handles special projects calling for advanced analytical methods; he also plays key roles in staff training and as a mentor on quantitative work. One project entailed a factor analysis of satellite TV viewing patterns in the Arab world.
Dave joined InterMedia in 1995 following a 25-year research career with the U.S. Information Agency (USIA), where he was chief of media research and a communications research analyst, specializing in Middle East and European media studies. Mr. Gibson conducted a series of market-based surveys and focus groups to evaluate and guide the development of VOA Europe, and he implemented the first U.S. government opinion poll in Kuwait. Mr. Gibson holds an M.A. from the School of Communications at the University of Washington, Seattle. He has studied German and Arabic.

Sarah Glacel
Project Manager, Eurasia
Sarah is a project manager at InterMedia Survey Institute and oversees quantitative and qualitative research projects in the countries of the former Soviet Union, with a particular focus on media research in Russia and Belarus, and in difficult to access areas such as the North Caucasus. Before coming to InterMedia in 2005, she spent a number of years working and living in the Russia. Her professional background includes work in non-governmental organizations and as a security analyst in the public sector. Sarah has a BA in International Affairs and Russian and Eastern European Studies from Lafayette College and a graduate degree from Irkutsk State University in Irkutsk, Russia, where she spent two years as a Fulbright Scholar conducting research on the history of environmental movements in the region. She is fluent in Russian.

Sonja Gloeckle
Project Manager, Southeast Europe
Since joining InterMedia in early 2007, Sonja has been involved in national surveys, focus groups and monitoring panels for several Balkan countries, thus making use of both her quantitative and qualitative research experience. She was previously employed in corporate social responsibility and homeland security consulting, which led her to work in various transitional democracies and developing countries, mostly in Asia. Her expertise also includes stints in several communications and international affairs ventures. She obtained her undergraduate degree in International Culture and Politics from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and spent a year at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po). Sonja recently completed her Master’s in Politics and Communication at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is fluent in German and French.

Tatyana Gurikova
Research Analyst
Tatyana Gurikova assists InterMedia staff in the preparation of quantitative and qualitative research reports and data sets that rely on data collected in field surveys. In addition, she undertakes ad-hoc analyses of data in response to client inquiries or to assist in preparation of InterMedia presentations. She has garnered more than seven years of survey research experience with academic, private and government clients. Tatyana worked on a variety of survey projects for the Department of Transportation and the Department of Energy and authored Transportation Energy Survey Data Book 1.1. While working as project manager at NuStats Research and Consulting in Alexandria, Va., Tatyana planned, managed and coordinated surveys of multiple data collection modes; designed questionnaires, and analyzed data. Tatyana has an M.A. in communication sciences and an M.A. in sociology, both from the University of Connecticut. She is a native speaker of Russian.

Stephen Hegarty
Deputy Research Director
Stephen has been with InterMedia since its founding and has had a wide range of responsibilities. He joined the organization as Project Manager/Research Analyst for Central Asia to manage quantitative and qualitative research projects in Russian and Central Asia and to write analytical reports on the results of audience, public opinion and program evaluation research for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Voice of America, BBC, USAID, and other clients. As Deputy Research Director, his responsibilities include promoting and encouraging high quality analysis and reporting; conducting research design and analysis of issues related to InterMedia’s business development goals, and working on database and content management system solutions for dissemination of research data and derivatives. Stephen is a Ph.D. Candidate in History and Central Eurasian Studies from Indiana University, has a Master’s in Soviet Union Regional Studies from Harvard and a Bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth in Russian Language and Literature, and History. He speaks Russian and Uzbek.

Hugh Hope-Stone
Project Manager, Southeast Asia
Hugh brings to InterMedia more than 18 years of experience in research and evaluation. In addition to his broad spectrum of research expertise, Hugh is a specialist in educational campaign evaluation and international media research. Since 1992 Hugh has worked in the field of international broadcasting, carrying out project management for many of the major international broadcasters including BBC, VOA and Radio China. Hugh has worked in most areas of the world, but has specific experience in Central Europe and the Balkans and South Asia. He has earned an M.Phil in Business Strategy and Marketing at Thames Polytechnic in London, and a B.A. in politics from Nottingham University. He is also a member of the UK Market Research Society and Association for Qualitative Research.

Lynn Lee
Project Manager, East and Southeast Asia
Lynn has been with InterMedia since July 2006. She is skilled in project planning, management and evaluation, and handles a wide range of audience/media research and evaluation projects in East Asia and Southeast Asia. Her current projects focus on understanding general media patterns and behaviors in difficult-to-access countries. She also manages evaluation work on governance, democracy and civil society in the region. Prior to joining InterMedia, she obtained a Ph.D. in Development Studies in Sussex University, U.K., where her research focused on economic migration, civil society and social network. She has three years of international development program planning and evaluation experience in Southeast Asia and Central Asia. Lynn is fluent in Korean and Japanese, and speaks intermediate Khmer.

Jaroslaw “Slavko” Martyniuk
Regional Research Manager, Eurasia
Slavko Martyniuk has been with InterMedia or one of its predecessors (SAAOR in Paris, RFE/RL Research Institute in Munich, and OMRI in Washington) since 1985. As Regional Research Manager for Eurasia, he is responsible for quantitative and qualitative research in most of countries of the former Soviet Union, including the Caucasus and Central Asia. His team works closely with the South Eastern European regional team. Slavko’s background includes extensive experience in conducting research among difficult-to-access populations using unconventional methodologies, such as those employed with Soviet travelers and emigrants during the last years of the former Soviet Union. He has written numerous articles and analytical pieces on media and public opinion in Ukraine and other countries of the FSU. A former administrator and diplomat with the OECD in Paris, Slavko’s experience includes 40 years of analytical and managerial positions in the private and public sectors. He is fluent in several languages, including Ukrainian, French, Polish, Russian and Belarusian.

Amanda Noonan
Regional Research Manager, Asia
Amanda has worked with InterMedia for more than five years. She is responsible for management/oversight of all qualitative and quantitative projects in the Asian region. Additionally as a project manager, Amanda specializes in Tibetan research. Having served in several nongovernmental and academic organizations, including the BBC World Service research department and the University of Manchester Programme of Policy Research in Engineering, Science and Technology (PREST), Amanda has extensive experience in all aspects of multi-national and multi-client research management, from research design, budgeting, fieldwork oversight and training and management, reporting, analysis and presentation. Specializing in research in hard-to-access populations, Amanda has been responsible for the creation, design and implementation of innovative research techniques to access these groups. Amanda has a degree in Molecular Biology, is a Chartered Biologist (C.I.Biol) and also has a Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Science Policy.

Denise O’Reilly

Denise’s responsibilities at InterMedia include business development, project management, development of qualitative initiatives and training. Her skills include concept and proposal design, project management, analysis, insight generation and preparation and presentation of findings. Denise is also project director of a large scale multi-country study on media behavior and attitudes. She joined InterMedia in November 2005 with 12 years’ commercial market experience, having worked in the market research industry (for both agency and client) and specializing in qualitative and quantitative projects across all sectors. Denise’s previous appointments include Consumer Planning Manager (Guinness), Diageo Ireland and Associate Director, Millward Brown, Ireland. She also has more than six years’ experience in international trade & exports. She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and market research. She holds an advanced degree in International Law, Marketing and Distribution. Denise speaks French and Gaelic.

Roddy Rasti
Panel Manager
Roddy joined the company full-time in May 2005, following an editorial internship that began in fall 2004. He is currently responsible for planning and coordinating, with regional teams and clients, all listener and viewer panel studies, as well as guiding panel report methodology. He first performed such duties in summer 2005 for a BBC World Service radio news panel, coordinating research across 12 cities worldwide. Roddy’s interests include communication history and theory, as well as Iranian history, culture and politics; his own research has focused on communication research methodologies. While studying at American University, he also worked as a senior editor for Swords and Ploughshares, the student journal of the School of International Service. Roddy holds a B.A. in English from Louisiana State University and is completing his M.A. in International Communication from American University’s School of International Service. He is conversant in Persian.

Raul Roman
Senior Project Manager
Raul joined InterMedia in July 2007 and currently manages InterMedia projects in China, Indonesia, and Laos. Raul brings a decade of experience as a research and strategy consultant in communication and international development programs in more than 20 countries in South Asia, Latin America, and Africa. He has served as a consultant for international organizations (such as UNESCO, FAO, USAID, and Rockefeller Foundation, among others), governments, companies (such as Microsoft and Intel), and research institutions. His work has focused on the design of communication strategies particularly in rural development, and the innovative uses of information and communication technologies for development goals across a wide range of practice areas (i.e., governance, education, health, and agriculture). Raul has published widely on these topics in professional and academic journals. He earned MS and Ph.D. degrees in Communication and International Development at Cornell University. Currently, Raul is also an adjunct professor of international development at SAIS-Johns Hopkins University.

Satu Salmi
Project Manager , Southeast Asia
Satu Salmi has been working for InterMedia since 2002; for the first five years as Regional Research Manager for Southeast Asia. Satu has more than 35 years of experience in research management and has been doing so in Asia since 1985. She has extensive experience conducting research among difficult-to-access populations. While working for the BBC World Service, she was responsible for several “first ever” research initiatives on international media in East and Southeast Asia. Satu has also worked as a research consultant in Asia and Africa for organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO and the European Union, and as a contractor for the IBB Office of Research and Radio Free Asia. She has a university degree in social sciences and a professional diploma in market research from the British Market Research Society, of which she is a full member. Satu is a native Finnish speaker, and also speaks German.

Aylin Talgar Pietz
Senior Project Manager
Aylin has been with InterMedia since 2004, managing research projects globally, with a specialization in the Middle East and sub-Saharan Africa. She has extensive international experience, growing up in South and Southeast Asia and the Middle East as well as spending much of the last few years studying and working in West Africa. Aylin is an evaluation specialist, focusing on research among difficult-to-access populations and in the implementation of multi-country studies. She prefers to emphasize participatory approaches to research design, management and reporting, demonstrating an ability to conduct inter-disciplinary studies in culturally diverse environments. Aylin’s professional background encompasses programmatic and research experience; she has worked with several international organizations including the United Nations on topics including public health, human rights and conflict resolution. She has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. She speaks fluent Turkish and French.

Diana Turecek

Diana joined InterMedia in 2008 as regional research manager for the Middle East/North Africa. She has more than 20 years’ experience analyzing global and Middle East economic developments for senior U.S. government officials and has assessed the effects of Arab television on perceptions of the United States. She has lived and traveled extensively in the Middle East and Western Europe and recently spent 8 months studying advanced Arabic in Fes, Morocco. Diana has a Master’s in European Studies and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a B.A. in Economics and French from Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y. She is fluent in Arabic and French.

Greta Uehling
Project Manager, Central Asia
Greta joined InterMedia in July 2007 and is responsible for managing quantitative and qualitative research projects in the countries of Eurasia, with a focus on Central Asia. Prior to coming to InterMedia, Greta managed complex international research projects with the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, where she worked in the Evaluation and Policy Analysis Unit. She also has a portfolio of research consultancies on topics such as the first Ukrainian census, refugees from Chechnya in Russia, and asylum seekers in Europe. Greta received her Ph.D. in cultural anthropology in 2000 from the University of Michigan, where she received a distinguished dissertation award the same year. She has published widely in professional and academic journals. Her first book, Beyond Memory, was published in 2004 and is about the repatriation of the Crimean Tatars from Uzbekistan to Ukraine. She is proficient in Russian.

Haleh Vaziri
Senior Global Media and Communications Analyst
Haleh has been a member of the InterMedia team for more than 10 years. As Senior Global Media and Communications Analyst, she is developing global analytical reports and research projects on media and communications in developing and transitional countries. Prior to joining InterMedia, Haleh earned a Ph.D. from Georgetown University's Department of Government and was awarded a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard University's Center for Middle East Studies. While making the transition to academic research and teaching comparative and international politics, she also worked in the field of human rights education. She is the co-author of three human rights education and leadership training manuals produced and translated in to some 15 languages by the Sisterhood Is Global Institute and the Women's Learning Partnership for Rights, Development and Peace. She has published book chapters and articles in academic and professional journals and presented papers on media and strategic communications issues at various forums. She is competent in Persian and French and speaks basic Arabic and Spanish.

Peter Goldstein
Director of Online Communications
Peter is in charge of developing, managing and promoting new media communications for InterMedia. He is also managing editor of www.audiencescapes.org, the company's new online portal for data and analysis. Peter previously was senior editor for global and economic news at Kiplinger, where his duties included assisting in the redesign of the Kiplinger.com website. Before that, he spent 12 years in Europe working for Dow Jones, including stints as Brussels bureau chief for Dow Jones Newswires and European news editor for WSJ.com, the online Wall Street Journal. Peter holds a Masters Degree in African studies and international economics from Johns Hopkins University’s Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, and a Bachelors Degree in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is fluent in French.

Trudi Jo Davis
Senior Editor
Trudi is responsible for the editorial quality of all reports developed by InterMedia. She also is charged with creating various marketing and press materials, and also serves as Web editor. She comes to InterMedia after a three-year stint in Chicago as Web editor for eCreativeSearch, an online database and information resource for the commercial and film production industry. Previously, she spent 11 years at the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, a senior citizen advocacy organization located in Washington, D.C., as assistant editor for their bi-monthly publication Secure Retirement. Trudi also served as assistant press secretary for former Sen. Paul Sarbanes, D-Md., and as research assistant and speech writer for former Sen. Howard Metzenbaum, D-Ohio. She has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona. Most recently, she graduated from the comedy writing program at Second City, in Chicago.

Neil Chelliah
Business Systems Manager
Neil joined InterMedia full time in July, 2005 after serving as a Faculty Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Maryland. As Business Systems Manager, he is responsible for servicing and management of all InterMedia business systems. Neil also assists in IT-related issues. Neil holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland and another B.S. in Electronic Film and Media from Towson University. He is currently finishing his M.S. in Computer Systems Management at the University of Maryland, University College.

Eugene Shekhtman
IT Manager
Gene provides general oversight of InterMedia's IT strategy, IT systems and Helpdesk Support. He has more than 10 years' experience in the Information Technology field, having worked for small and mid-sized companies in various capacities ranging from ad hoc IT support to full-time Network Administration and IT Management. For the last several years, Gene has worked as an IT consultant in the Washington metropolitan area. He holds Bachelors degrees in Political Science and Cultural Anthropology and speaks fluent Russian.

Corliss Lawrence
Human Resources Consultant
Corliss joined InterMedia as a Human Resources Consultant in 2006. She is responsible for working collaboratively with Executive Management in the strategic planning of human resources, management change and business operations. She is primarily responsible for developing human resources policies and procedures and providing the efficient delivery of human resources services. Corliss has over 25 years’ experience as a human resources generalist and administrative management in working with both mid-size and Fortune 500 companies. Her areas of expertise include employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, staffing, performance management, development, implementation and interpretation of human resources and administrative policies/procedures. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
